Vancouver Island’s Got Talent Audition Requirements:
Open to all ages and all variety of talent including singers, dancers, jugglers, ventriloquists, magicians, comedians and musicians.
If you are auditioning your band, we will have a segment just for bands. The stage will have a keyboard, drum kit, amps and microphones. The band must include what instruments are used so we can set up their sound system. Horns, guitars and bass will not be provided and must be supplied by the musicians.
If selected to perform, you must perform on your assigned dates. Failure to appear for performances will result in a disqualification.
You must be a Vancouver Island or Gulf Island resident and an amateur unsigned musician who does not make a living at your talent.
If you’re under 18, please submit your parent or guardians’ signed permission with your application.
The following are NOT ELIGIBLE: anyone involved in any capacity of organizing, executing, judging or supplying prizes for Vancouver Island's Got Talent.
Application packages will not be returned, and become the property of Vancouver Island’s Got Talent.
You will be disqualified if your application package contains vulgarity, profanity, is rude or sexually explicit. The decision to disqualify will be final, binding and not subject to appeal.
Judges will take into account the performance, on-stage presence and appearance, entertainment value and score accordingly.
It is recommended that performers that are selected for the shows have a variety of performances prepared.
Vancouver Island’s Got Talent reserves the right to amend the official rules at any time, without prior notice. Vancouver Island’s Got Talent will ensure that amendments are posted to the website as soon as possible. Vancouver Island’s Got Talent will not be liable to notify each applicant about the changes.
Contestants will be notified publicly at the audition and notified by phone. If a selected contestant is not available to continue or fails to perform, she/he will forfeit any claim to continue as a contestant.

Applicants are responsible for ensuring delivery. Vancouver Island’s Got Talent is not liable for any failure of attempted delivery.
Auditioning:
Please be prepared to perform for up to 2 minutes. As a vocalist, you will be singing acapela, as a dancer, please bring your song/music on CD. (Note- Please make sure your song/music is the ONLY track on your CD), and as a musician you will be allowed one instrument on stage that you must provide. We will supply the PA system and an amplifier. If you are auditioning your band, we will have a segment just for bands. The stage will have a keyboard, drum kit, amps and microphones. Our panel of experts will judge those auditions and select the best entries to proceed through the shows. The contestants will be divided into two groups. October 3rd and 10th, two groups will perform. The judges will eliminate contestants leaving 15 in each group. On October 24th and November 7th, the two groups of 15 will perform and five will be eliminated leaving 10 in each group. November 21st and 28th, the two groups of 10 will perform and five will be eliminated leaving five in each group. December 19th, the 10 finalists will perform for Christmas show. At the finale on January 21st, the 10 will perform and the winner and first runner up will be selected.
Prizes
The Grand Prize
(Part 1) Vegas Performance includes a trip to Las Vegas with accommodation. VIGT winner must have a valid passport and be able to travel to the United States. Minors must be accompanied by a legal parent or guardian. While in Las Vegas the winner must perform their duty as the Vancouver Island's Got Talent representative by performing in a guest spot on V: the Ultimate Variety Show at Planet Hollywood. Winner will also be signed on to continue as a regular roster client with promoter Nikk Zorbas.
(Part 2) Promotional material production is a professional studio production of a three-song demo CD, at Oak Stone Sound, or a professional video and social media set up maintained for a period of 1 year from Strategic Insanity. (Social Media may include; website set up, blog setup and maintaintainence, facebook, twitter, and youtube)
(Part3) a complete photo shoot from Creative Works Photography.
-To redeem parts 2 and 3 of winners prize, production work must begin within one calendar month upon winner prize announcement. In the event that promotional production time exceeds six calendar months (song demo or video production) from prize announcement then sponsor retains the right to terminate the production relationship.
-Choice of (part 2) promo package will be determined by nature of act. Prizes are not transferable, convertible to cash or refundable. Changes to any component of a prize are not permitted.
-If for any reason the first place winner is unable to perform their duty then the 1st runner up shall be prepared to take their place.
Liability
Applicants agree that Vancouver Island’s Got Talent is not liable to them or to their heirs and assigns for death, personal injury, losses or damages of any kind caused by travelling to or from Vancouver Island’s Got Talent venues, being present at the venues, participating in the contest or being selected to, or disqualified from, continuing in the contest.
General Conditions
Applicants agree to the use of their photograph, name, personal biography, demo CD , and recorded or live Vancouver Island’s Got Talent performance(s) by the Victoria Conservatory or Maria Manna for all promotional purposes related to Vancouver Island’s Got Talent in 2010/2011 and future years, and the use of that information in all forms of media and communication related to Vancouver Island’s Got Talent without compensation or notice, and hereby release Victoria Conservatory of Music, or Maria Manna and its directors, employees, representatives, and agents, from any claims or liability arising out of or with respect to such use.
Applicants are responsible for their own arrangements and expenses incurred to participate in Vancouver Island’s Got Talent. Neither the Victoria Conservatory of Music nor any of those involved in any capacity in organizing, executing, judging or supplying prizes for Vancouver Island’s Got Talent is responsible for covering or reimbursing any expenses incurred by applicants.
Nothing in these rules imposes any obligation on the Victoria Conservatory of Music, Maria Manna or any other individual, company or organization to broadcast or rebroadcast any performances submitted by contestants, or imposes liability on the Victoria Conservatory of Music, Maria Manna or any other individual, company or organization for failure to do so.
At Maria Manna’s sole discretion, prior to the awarding of the Grand Prize, the winner may be required to sign a declaration of eligibility.
All application packages are the property of Maria Manna and will not be returned to applicants. Maria Manna and the Victoria Conservatory of Music are not liable for any loss, distortion, theft, delay, damage, misdirection, or change in any application package or for the failure of technical capability which affects or may affect performances or the recording or attempted recording of any performance.
Subject to any required government approval, Maria Manna reserves the right to terminate or amend these official rules, any aspect or all aspects of the Vancouver Island’s Got Talent contest in any way at any time, without notice, should anything interfere with the fair and proper conduct of the contest as envisaged by these rules. It is the responsibility of each applicant to ensure that he/she complies with these rules. Any changes or amendments to the official rules will be posted online at: www.vancouverislandsgottalent.com.
While recognizing that judges, corporate sponsors, applicants and contestants may know each other outside of this competition, Maria Manna and The Victoria Conservatory of Music asks that no contact or communication intended to influence, or that would tend to influence a judge’s decision about an applicant’s or contestant’s performance shall occur between applicants, Contestants and Vancouver Island’s Got Talent judges or corporate sponsors between the application deadline of 5 p.m. September 15th, 2010, and the final event in January 2011.
Proceeds
This is a fundraiser for the Maria Manna Bursary Fund at the Victoria Conservatory of Music for children that find themselves in socio economical difficulties and cannot afford music lessons. Victoria Conservatory of Music is a non-profit organization. 100% of profits from Vancouver island’s Got talent will go to The Maria Manna Bursary Fund at The Victoria Conservatory of Music for music lessons for children ages 8-18.
